Rattana Antiques Collection was founded by collector Dave Lee in 2002. Having acquired a sizable collection over 10 years, Dave decided to open Rattana Antiques Collection in order to share his love for antiques with fellow enthusiasts and provide an avenue for them to obtain rare, genuine antiques.

With a great passion for priceless objets d’art, Dave Lee ensures that all antique pieces available at Rattana Antiques Collection are of excellent quality and come from countries rich in the Buddhist religion such as Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, Laos and India.

Due to their extreme value and strong ties to religion, these artefacts are very hard to come by. Such relics are generally banned from export across Asia, so being able to obtain one is extremely difficult. With great foresight and having knowledge of the ban in other Asian countries, Rattana Antiques Collection was set up in Singapore, where the laws on the trading of relics are more relaxed and export of such artefacts is possible.

Our Retail Philosophy

As many of our antiques are steeped in history and shrouded in holiness, we are very particular about who purchases our pieces. We believe that your purchase of any of our pieces is fated, and if you were meant to purchase from us, this will be made possible. As such, at Rattana Antiques Collection, our representatives will not approach you to make a sale but rather, wait to be approached.

It is important to us that our pieces go to the right owner, someone who will respect and value each piece. It is for this reason that the person wishing to acquire an Antique Buddha has to be personally present, so purchases can only be made in our shop and not online. Should you wish to purchase one of our artefacts but be denied, please do not be offended as our decision is made on our firm belief in our philosophy. If you are meant to own one of our artefacts, it will be. Rattana Antiques Collection will also decline the sale of our collections to any person acting on behalf of another.

The religious significance and storied history of the artefacts makes them more than mere ornaments. Respect for these ancient statues is extremely important and they should be placed properly in consideration of the religion they represent. We take care to make sure that our customers understand that the statues are more than just display pieces and should not be treated as such. Extreme care and reverence should be bestowed on these priceless relics.

Our Products

Our collections contain genuine, unique and priceless artefacts that have been carefully preserved. They are not mass manufactured but individually crafted statues dating back over 100 years. The authenticity of our statues is evident in the excellent workmanship, the material used to create them, the Holy soil contained within and the manner in which they have been crafted. Crafting the statues

Antique Buddhas are made from devotees’ donations of gold and silver. As a way of doing good, many devotees donate their precious metals to be melted down to make statues of worship. The metals are then moulded to make the shape of the statue, leaving the inside hollow. Many believe that spirits might dwell in this hollow and that is why ancient Buddhas always contain Holy natural elements.

These natural elements used in filling the hollow are chosen for their energy and deep connection to holiness. As a result, the places where the element is obtained are often extremely difficult to locate. The Holy elements used are either: Soil from high mountains or meteorites – High level of holiness and strong energy Earth crystals – Usually found in caves, holy for their energy Sea-coral – Seashells are known to contain energy

As the antique Buddhas are being made, monks chant for three days and three nights to increase the amount of good energy the statues will possess. Even during meditation, monks experience astral projection and aid in the making of the statue through the transfer of good energy.

The power of the artefacts

Besides the beauty and priceless value of the artefacts, these holy statues also bring energy to your home. Energy plays a crucial role in our lives. Low energy is associated with Yin or the moon, and is believed to be the cause of accidents, bad luck and poor health. High or good energy on the other hand is representative of Yang, or the sun, and is the reason for positive things like good health and happiness. Infused with good energy, these powerful statues often bring good luck and prevent unwelcome spirits from entering your home. The ancient Buddhas also represent the Triple Gem, which is the focus of devotion for Buddhists. The Triple Gem is made up of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, all three of which Buddhism is based upon.
